Kitchen Inspiration: Norwood in Cherry & Maple

In kitchen design, details make all the difference. Large details, like the cabinet door style, wood species, and finish color (or colors) combine with counter tops and flooring to set the overall look of the room. Here, an island in maple with Sage paint works beautifully with warm wood floors and cherry cabinets in Kona stain. The counter top echoes the different colors used throughout the room, and ties the entire design together.

Smaller details can be found when you look a little closer. This design features Beaded Inset cabinets, which adds a layer of visual interest. A small groove has been routed into the face frame around the door and drawer front openings, as seen above.

Warming drawers are a wonderful detail that can look very utilitarian. A custom drawer front that matches the rest of the island neatly conceals the functionality of the appliance.

Toasters, coffee makers, blenders, canisters and other helpful implements can clutter up a kitchen in a hurry. This design features three different appliance garages to help keep things tidy.

Draping a damp towel over a cabinet door is so easy, but can harm the finish over time. Pull-out towel racks next to the sink are easy to access, and keep moisture away from the cabinets.

As you start to think about your new kitchen, your initial thoughts will likely center on how the space will look--this is, after all, the first impression it will make on family and friends. It's the small details, though, that will keep you loving your kitchen long after the new wears off. What are the details you're dreaming of?
